In the world of
email, faxes, cell phones and franking machines it is easy to forget
that not so long ago most communication occurred by letters,
transported in envelopes that were enriched by postage stamps.
Stamps were seen and handled by many people, and the image on a
stamp would have been among the most seen images in daily life. This
set of wolf stamps from Poland spread the image of the wolf, and WWF,
far and wide. It serves as a nice illustration of how important
large carnivores have been in our human culture. |
